silent film scene of count orlok, a vampire

The Original Dracula

Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021

7:30pm | Capitol Civic Centre

Nosferatu, A Symphony of Horror is a German silent film from 1922. It’s been called one of the 5 best German films of all time. Join us as MSO performs the film score to perhaps the best Dracula film ever made. This is a live-to-film event—we show a movie and play the music to the movie, live.

“Here is the story of Dracula before it was buried alive in clichés, jokes, TV skits, cartoons and more than 30 other films. The film is in awe of its material. It seems to really believe in vampires… It doesn’t scare us, but it haunts us.”

A costume contest will be held during the concert! We’ll award first, best, and worst costume. Voting will take place online.

  • Show up to the concert in your Halloween best.

Psst… all tasteful costumes are welcome, not just the Count!

If you’re into conspiracy theories, some believe the actor who played Count Nosferatu (aka Count Dracula) was a real vampire (the Oscar nominated film Shadow of the Vampire is about this myth).

Oh, not to mention that the producers and the director were members of an occult. I mean, the publishing company was named Prana, meaning life force in Sanskrit.

You can’t make this stuff up!

There will be NO pre-concert informance or post-concert reception at this event. Instead join us at Courthouse Pub after the show for drink and appetizer specials!
