Mission & Vision

Our Mission

The mission of the Manitowoc Symphony Orchestra Association is to promote the highest-quality orchestral music experiences available to patrons and musicians.

MSO musicians Carrie Kulas, violin; Jane Finch, viola; and Michael Dewhirst, cello, perform at the Courthouse Pub in Manitowoc on December 2, 2021.

Our Vision

The Manitowoc Symphony Orchestra Association will enrich the community with enduring and fulfilling orchestral music experiences, by:

  • producing quality orchestral concerts encompassing a wide variety of repertoire, performed by accomplished musicians.
  • providing educational offerings for patrons and performance opportunities for local musicians.
  • creating a demographically inclusive and musically diverse culture.
  • practicing good organizational stewardship that establishes a solid, sustainable financial base from multiple sources, including:
    • concert revenue and sponsorships,
    • donations,
    • special events,
    • and distributions from a robust endowment fund.

MSO Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Statement

Music’s true power is to move and unite people. Hearing music is about discovering what connects us all—uncovering shared eternal truths. It matters not by whom or when music was written, it can speak to all regardless of race, color, creed, sex, gender identity, or expression. We pledge that the MSO will perform with an aim toward inclusion.

The MSO will:

  • Respect equity, diversity, and inclusionary practices that influence organizational changes.
  • Perform music by marginalized and underrepresented groups.
  • Periodically evaluate and update internal practices related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
