Planned Giving

Invest in the Legacy of Manitowoc Symphony Orchestra with a Planned Gift

The Manitowoc Symphony Orchestra is an important cultural asset to our community. The MSO has been delighting audiences in Wisconsin and providing a creative outlet for community musicians since 1951. Your planned gift is vitally important to the future of the MSO. Here is information on how you can give today and leave a legacy gift that will help ensure the symphony’s future so it can be enjoyed by generations to come. Planned Gifts are gifts that keep on giving. Create your legacy through life insurance or bequests, transfer of property, real estate or investments.

Karl Miller Society

The MSO now has a donor recognition club, The Karl Miller Society, named after the founder of the MSO, whose vision and dedication provided the foundation for our past and current artistic success. Membership in the Society is open to all who contribute at least $1,000 annually to the Endowment Fund. Members are offered appreciation in a number of ways, one being celebrating the Symphony with friends, musicians, and fellow patrons at future Karl Miller Society pre-concert celebrations.

Donations of appreciated assets (stocks, bonds, real estate) are a powerful way to make a sizable gift to the MSO. The donor may avoid capital gain taxes on the appreciation and the donor receives a tax deduction in the year of the gift.

Designate the Manitowoc Symphony Orchestra as the beneficiary and owner of your policy. Consider this…in lieu of making an annual gift, make insurance premium payments on a life insurance policy. With this giving option, premiums are deductible as a charitable donation.

This is a gift of cash that you may leave in your will to the Manitowoc Symphony Orchestra, just as you would a loved one. It could be a specific amount, a portion of your estate, or an asset (e.g. real estate). A charitable bequest in your will is one of the simplest ways to provide continuing support for the MSO.

Through IRA or other retirement assets, donors may be entitled to reduction of tax liability. Estate planners can provide the latest in tax laws.

Charitable Remainder Trusts and Charitable Lead Trusts enable donors to remain in their homes and maintain their home and lifestyle while providing future provisions for the charitable organization.

If you would also like to help right now…

Annual Cash Gifts provide immediate results. Donors can see firsthand the difference an outright gift can make. Make a gift once a year. Choose the month that is most convenient or for easy budgeting, contribute monthly or quarterly.

Tribute Gifts — Make a gift in memory or in honor of a loved one.

Corporate Gifts — Double your gift through your company’s matching gifts program. Many corporations will match your gifts to qualified organizations. Ask your employer if they offer a corporate matching contribution.

Look for the option to make your gift a recurring donation.
